Everyone is Welcome

Everyone is welcome at any of our services in Henham, Elsenham and Ugley, whether you’re a committed Christian, exploring Christianity or sceptical about faith.

At HEU, we are

a Christian church, committed to following Jesus Christ, and worshipping God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit;

an Evangelical church, committed to the Bible as God’s Word and our final authority in all matters of faith and life;

an Anglican church, part of the Church England in the Diocese of Chelmsford holding orthodox Anglican beliefs, as set out in the 39 Articles of Religion;

a Family church, with babies, pensioners and everyone in between, we seek to love and serve our local communities.

WE BELIEVE

  • God is the Creator and Sustainer of everything.  In the Bible we see who God is and what he has done for us.
  • Jesus was born, lived and died for us, and is our Master.  We are saved by accepting his death on the cross in our place and His rule over our lives.
  • The Holy Spirit is given to us so that we can obey Him and keep on growing in Him.

OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND

The Bishop of Ebbsfleet: The HEU PCCs have each passed a resolution under the House of Bishop’s Declaration on the Ministry of Bishops and Priests in order to reflect their convictions on the distinctive ministry of men and women.
